Welcome to my Hypnotherapy Practice. I am based in Market Harborough and offer bespoke face-to-face or online sessions from the privacy of my quiet studio.

I am registered with the GHR, the GHSC, CNHC, and the ICO, and adhere to their codes of practice. I offer a safe and supportive space with full client confidentiality.

I developed LIFE.clinical hypnotherapy to help people like you control their anxieties and fears, manage their weight, deal with trauma, rebalance their relationship with alcohol and be free to live their lives better, forever.

I have encountered so many people who are struggling in life due to deep rooted beliefs, perhaps learnt in childhood, coping strategies that are no longer helpful, who are not living their full lives. I was one of them for many years .  

Healing begins with a holistic approach. I combine the use of Clinical Hypnotherapy, NLP, CBT, nutrition , movement and Breathwork, tailored to the individual needs of each client, to help uncover the deep-rooted problems that have been holding you back, and transform your life for good .

I specialize in trauma work, anxiety, weight and body related issues,compulsive behaviours and alcohol-free coaching.

Throughout my adult life I've had problems with uncontrolled anger, which has put severe strain on my relationships with family and friends. With Jo's help and just a few sessions of hypnotherapy, I have largely conquered my propensity to anger quickly. I'm more relaxed and even-tempered, and laugh at my previous behaviour, and as a result, the people around me are happier and feel more secure too.

One to One Clinical Hypnotherapy Session 

One on one clinical hypnotherapy sessions are designed to help you overcome  what is holding you back in life. Whether that is fears, phobias, poor self esteem, anxiety, pain management , public speaking, or your relationship with alcohol, I can help .

We can then plan your treatment. We are all unique and the combination of therapy will be specific to your individual needs. 

Each session last between 60 and 90 minutes.

Treatment can be open ended, but an agreed number of sessions are usually established in the initial  consultation.

All hypnotherapy treatments will require an initial consultation session, so please book that on my Treatments page.

Its Not a Diet

It's Not a Diet is a five-week programme, which includes a consultation session. This is one of my most popular programmes as we are bombarded with so much conflicting advice.

This programme will rewire your eating habits for good, whether the problem is overeating, poor nutritional choices or a particular food addiction, releasing  you from years of dieting misery. 

I use a combination of Hypnotherapy and nutrition  techniques including, if appropriate, the Virtual Gastric Band. The Virtual Gastric Band has an amazing 95% success rate. This programme will be specific to your individual needs. 

No more cravings or will power necessary - get happy and healthy for good.

 

Trauma & PTSD Hypnotherapy

This is a subject that I am very passionate about.

Trauma and PTSD issues respond really well to Rewind Therapy. 

This is usually a course of three sessions, plus a consultation.

Rewind Therapy is particularly effective with cases of trauma as it allows the brain to timestamp the event(s)  and free you from real time fight or flight response. Trauma can be caused by a single traumatic event or a series of many smaller events disrupting the way the brain stores these memories. I will work with you to regulate and timestamp your memories. The beauty of this treatment is that you do not need to reveal to me what these experiences involve in detail if you do not wish to. In any case, full client confidentiality is always adhered to.

What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a form of therapy that uses the power of suggestion to encourage positive change. A hypnotherapist will use relaxation techniques to help you reach a state where the conscious part of your mind is relaxed and your subconscious part is more open to suggestion. They will then use suggestive techniques (where they ‘talk’ to your subconscious) to help encourage the change you’re looking for.

What is the initial consultation and assessment for?

The initial session is an integral part of your therapy and serves a number of purposes. It provides the opportunity for you to describe the challenges you are currently facing, and for me to ask you questions. I will explain how the brain works; the relationship between our conscious and subconscious mind and provide you with a clear understanding of the origin of our thoughts, habits and behaviours. I will also explain what hypnotherapy is (and is not!) and how I also incorporate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Neuro Linguistic Programming into your tailored sessions where appropriate.

During the initial consultation we will agree what goals we should work towards and put together a plan of action to help you to achieve them.

No hypnosis treatment will take place during the initial consultation.

What can hypnotherapy help with?

Hypnotherapy is especially helpful for habit breaking, stress-related issues and for a range of long-term conditions. In recent years the approach has gained momentum in the medical world after a recommendation from the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, which recognised hypnotherapy as an effective treatment for irritable bowel syndrome.

Can hypnosis get rid of anxiety?

Yes, there is a lot of evidence that hypnosis can help many anxiety disorders. For example, fears and phobias, habits that relate to anxiety, driving nerves, sports performance and generalised anxiety disorder and panic.

For example,

A study by Saadat et al (2006), showed that hypnosis can reduce preoperative anxiety.

In 2019, Valentine et al produced a meta-analysis and found that hypnosis was effective in reducing anxiety for an average of 79% compared to a control group.

Will I lose control?

You will remain completely in control the entire time. Your sensibilities are fully intact and you will automatically reject any suggestion that is inconsistent with your personal values, best interests and better judgement. You can easily resist any suggestion at any time, you will only respond to those suggestions that you find helpful in achieving the results you desire.

Yes. As hypnosis is a focus it can actually heighten our senses and awareness, and you will be in control at all times.
